Coffee with the Nuns
Monday, September 19, 2011 at 5:29PM How often do you get the chance to sit down and talk with a group of nuns and ask the real questions you've always wanted to know? If you had the opportunity what would you ask? This year at the teen conference, our teens will have that opportunity. The sisters from the San Antonio Poor Clare Nuns of Perpetual Adoration have been generous enough to donate their time so that our teens get a chance to talk to them about anything and everything, answer questions and break down some of the stereotypes that we have as a society. Don't let your teens miss this opportunity! Email me at dominoe@adoregod.org for more information!
What we can learn from World Youth Day 2011
Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 12:09PM We are so blessed to live in a time of World Youth Day. A week where the whole church celebrates, teaches and learns from the youth about the Catholic faith and the word of Christ. What can we, those who are a part of the every day faith community learn about this event? Let's just focus on the obvious for a second: the church realizes, and so should we, that in twenty years this youth will be running the church. The diocese offices, the catechism classrooms, everything will be run by what we now see as the 'youth'. Is that scary to think about? I don't think so. Look at the big picture right now. There were over a million people at this years World Youth Day in Madrid. Some are saying upwards of 1.5 million. All young people! All excited and willing to live up to the faith and doing it the only way they know how: by loving Christ with all their heart. This should show us that our youth is thirsty or knowledge. Let's help them quench that thirst!
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water flowing from the side of Christ, wash me.
And Now for Something Completely Different...
Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 11:48AM Monday through Friday the teens in our lives are lectured and tested and bored and then lectured some more! School is a place they have to be, but sometimes just don't want to be. Why would we want them to learn about their faith in the same way? Learning about our Catholic faith should be informative, fun and full of questions and answers.
So, this year when we were planning and praying the conference we decided to switch it up. Since it's so important to talk and discuss your faith, that is how we are going to stage this year's conference. We want our teens to ask questions and get real answers.
We are right now working on the schedule, check back soon for more details! It's going to be great!
