Our Beloved Dominican Sisters
Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 8:20AM Last November we were blessed with having two beautiful Dominican sisters speak at our conference, Mother Assumpta Long, and Sr. Maximilian Marie. Yesterday the order that Mother Assumpta co-founded, The Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, were highlighted on the Oprah Winfrey show. I was a bit skeptical on how Oprah would approach this topic and was surprised by some of her reactions. It was a beautiful portrayal of the sacredness of religious life and answering God's call. I'm sure more than one soul was touched and may respond to God's call for them.
It was also a reminder of how blessed we are in this area to have had them here and to speak to us about God along with the many speakers that have come. Our audience was much smaller than Oprah's, but it was just as powerful for us to have that intimate time with them.
Please keep Mother Assumpta OP, Sister Maximilian Marie OP, and all of the Dominicans in your prayers.
